Location: 127 South Main Street, Salt Lake City, Utah
Gallery Hours:  Tuesday through Friday, 12 noon to 8 p.m., Saturday 12 – 6 p.m.

The Utah Arts Alliance will present a public performance of SOUND MASS, a compilation of two bands, THETA NAUGHT from Salt lake City and MY EDUCATION from Austin , Texas, on Friday November 16, at 8:00 p.m. at the Utah Arts Alliance Gallery, and Midnight Records Productions studio, 127 S. Main St., S.L.C., Utah.

THETA NAUGHT is: Darren Corey – Drums and Theramin; Greg Corey – Lap Steel; Josh Ogzewalla – Guitar; Ryan Stanfield – Bass and Saw; with Briawana Anderson – Harp; and Ben Alterman – Keys and Percussion. MY EDUCATION is: James Alexander – Viola; Henna Chou – Cello; Chris Hackstie – Pedal Steel; Brian Purington – Guitar; Chris Stelly – Drums and Scott Telles – Bass.

After forming in 2002, the collective of musicians that comprise THETA NAUGHT have continued to push their own idea of improvisational, experimental, instrumental music into new realms. The energy and emotion expressed during a THETA NAUGHT live performance is something not to be missed, as these talented musicians improvise powerful aural imagery. MY EDUCATION began collaborating with THETA NAUGHT in 2010, resulting in studio recordings and the release of an album on Differential Records’ Harmonic Motion series.

“An engrossing style of ambient jazz that captivates and hypnotizes.” – The Salt lake Tribune.

This performance will be held in conjunction with an opening reception of a photographic exhibit, FANTASY, by Renee and Todd Keith on Friday November 16 from 6 – 9 p.m. The photo exhibit will be on display from November 13 through December 15, 2012.
