Art Access seeks a visionary leader to continue its legacy of service to persons with disabilities and those with limited access to the arts as well as oversee the programs and services that support the organization’s mission.

Job Description: Background:

Art Access/VSA Utah is a medium sized non-profit organization that serves approximately 17,000 adults and children, with and without disabilities, statewide. Chartered in 1984, it is the Utah affiliate of VSA, an international organization founded by Jean Kennedy Smith in 1974, as an affiliate of the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. The Art Access/VSA Utah mission stresses equal opportunities to inclusive arts programs for Utahns with disabilities and for others with limited access to the arts.

Overview:
The Executive Director is the primary administrator for Art Access/VSA Utah and reports directly to the Board of Trustees. This position is responsible for matters of financial management, human resources, policy development, program services and operations, facilities management, public relations and capital development. The Executive Director is the spokesperson for Art Access representing the organization to the community and to the global VSA organization. The ideal candidate for this position will have a passionate commitment to bringing the arts to children and adults living throughout the state.

Required Skills and Background:
Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in a non-profit organization with demonstrable increases in administrative, programmatic and managerial responsibilities

A Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in a related field

Demonstrated success in developing and managing an annual budget of $400,000

Experience with arts and/or disabilities communities

Experience in project management and evaluation

A strong track record of successful fundraising and/or capital campaign management

Excellent oral and written communication skills and exceptional interpersonal skills

Proven successful experience providing direction, leadership and vision to a non-profit staff and Board
