OGDEN - The Utah Commission on Volunteers have announced the
recipients of the 2013 Northern Region Volunteer Recognition Awards:
Catholic Community Services Ogden, Nonprofit Volunteer
Program of the Year Joyce Somers, Adult Volunteer of the Year
Haley Colgate, Youth Volunteer of the Year
The three region award winners will be honored Feb. 27 at
the 2013 Volunteer Recognition and Awards Luncheon, 12:30 p.m., in Ballroom B
of the Shepherd Union Building at Weber State University.
The Utah Commission on Volunteers is pleased to announce the
luncheon keynote speaker will be Ann Milner, former president of Weber State
University. Milner will be highlighting the importance of volunteerism in Utah.
She is scheduled to speak at 1:00 p.m.
In conjunction with the luncheon, the Utah Commission on
Volunteers will be hosting the Lt. Governor’s Northern Region Conference on
Service on the same date and at the same location from 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
The Conference is dedicated to improving volunteer management in Utah and
attendees represent the nonprofit, government, faith-based, and corporate
sectors.
Kicking off the conference will be a keynote address by Meg
Johnson, a motivational speaker, author, artist, teacher, and nonprofit
founder. Ms. Johnson is a quadriplegic whose passion and excitement for life is
evident in her motto, "When life gets too hard to stand, just keep on
rollin'!"
The general session day will be filled with 12 workshops for
attendees to choose from, each of which was chosen to represent the varying
needs of conference attendees. Workshop topics are centered on volunteer
management in Utah, the
#1 state in
the nation for
volunteer rates. Registration
