Ring Around the Rose - Spy Hop & The Utah Film Center
February 9, 2013 | 11:00 am

Repertory Dance Theatre's "Ring Around the Rose" program welcomes the talented artists from Spy Hop Productions and the Utah Film Center for the first time on February 9, 2013 at 11:00 am.

The Utah Film Center and Spy Hop Productions are teaming up for an interactive animation experience on the Ring Around the Rose stage. These Salt Lake City film experts will present some great short films made for and by kids from the Utah Film Center's Tumbleweeds series. Then the artists will invite the audience to help make a collaborative on-stage movie using stop motion animation to tell a story. Lucky volunteers will be invited on stage to be a part of the magic as the audience watches the whole thing unfold.

Tickets: $5 (not including fees) and free for ages 2 and under
ArtTix: 801-355-ARTS or www.arttix.org

Ring Around the Rose is a "wiggle-friendly" series of performances for children and families that explore the magical world of the arts including dance, theatre, music, and storytelling.

Help RDT with Market Research
Sit on a focus group & get benefits from RDT!

We at RDT are working hard to learn more about our audience (you!) and we want to hear your opinions! We are working with Utah CRG, a Market Research group from Utah Valley University, to set up a focus group to learn more about our audience, donors, students, and patrons.

Everyone who participates in the focus group will receive a Sapphire Club card and your choice of one of the following:

Two tickets to any upcoming RDT performance (in the next 12 months) or
A 5-class punch card to RDT's Community School or
Two Family Passes (5 tickets each) to RDT's Ring Around theRose program

RDT to honor women in the military this April
Looking for stories from women veterans

Repertory Dance Theatre and the Fort Douglas Museum are honoring Utah women in the military with a three-night concert event, April 11-13, 2013. Women of Valor...In the Spirit of Service commemorates the 150th Anniversary of Fort Douglas and pays tribute to women who have served selflessly in the community and in the military.

Women of commitment, dedication, courage
Women who serve as warriors, wives of warriors
And the mothers of warriors....
The nurses, mechanics, engineers and truck drivers
The pilots, cooks, medics, MPs and teachers

Repertory Dance Theatre and the Utah Military Veterans Affairs Committee are collecting stories of local women Veterans to highlight in the lobby of the performance. Stories will be printed and displayed in the lobby of the Rose Wagner Performing Arts Center. Women veterans are encouragedto submit their stories using this link. If you or anyone you know is a woman veteran, please pass this information along.

The military and contemporary modern dance; dramatic monologues and abstract movement - unusual pairings. There is nothing ordinary about this concert of modern dance just as there is nothing ordinary about the selfless and brave women who will be honored.

Young Dancer Workshop
Passport to Partnering
 Dates: March 9 & 16, 2013
Time: 1 pm - 4 pm
Rose Wagner Performing Arts Center-West Studio
Ages: 13-17
Price: $60

Do you ever wonder how choreographers come up with those great partnering moments you see in dance concerts? Or how the dancers actually make them work? Well, here is a workshop for you!

This workshop will expand students' knowledge and skills in the art of choreography and the mechanics of partnering. RDT dancers will instruct students in different partnering skills, sequences and composition, as well as improvisation exercises that will lead to the creation of new choreography.

RDT is working hard in the schools this month

February is the month of Arts & Education for RDT. February 5 & 6, RDT will be hosting over 250 Jr. High students for Utah Dance Education Organization's (UDEO) Jr. High Day of Dance here at the Rose Wagner Performing Arts Center.

After the madness of Charette has subsided, the dancers will be traveling throughout the state of Utah visiting schools and communities of all sizes. Just this month alone, RDT will be visiting schools in the following districts: Jordan, Granite, Salt Lake, Davis, Canyons, Juab, North Sanpete, South Sanpete, Washington, Iron, Beaver, and Kane.

Repertory Dance Theatre uses dance as a way to help people become more connected, compassionate, aware, inspired, original, focused, courageous, passionate, and human.

RDT's 47 year committment to Arts in Education has created award winning activities: Performances, Lecture Demonstrations, Workshops, Classes, and Mentoring opportunites that inspire tens of thousands of students and teachers each year. Curriculum material relating to history, music, art and the environment help students make stimulating and valuable connections, enabling them to appreciate and understand the world.
