Anne Gardner, Chair of The Friends, is thrilled that this year’s Auction to be commemorating the 80th birthday of Jim Jones. "Jim's work continues to inspire our community, university and the artists of our region. His sweeping atmospheric landscapes depicted in his final suite of work, were created for the future Southern Utah Museum of Art here at SUU. We look forward to bringing Jim's dream closer to us all through your support at our upcoming auction."
This year’s auction will be hosted by guest emcee Brad Carroll, composer of Lend Me a Tenor The Musical, and features lively bidding led by guest auctioneer Peter Sham, the book writer and lyricist for Lend Me a Tenor The Musical and associate chair of SUU’s Department of Theatre Arts & Dance.
This year’s auction offers a wide spectrum of visually dynamic media including paintings, drawings, prints, photography, ceramics, jewelry and other unique works of art by some of the finest artists in the Southwest including works by popular favorites as Arlene Braithwaite, Royden Card, Richard Hardin, J. Brad Holt, Ron Spears and Kate Starling as well as introducing some gifted new southern Utah artists. Because of the overwhelming response, the portfolio of art for live and silent bidding will be jury selected in order to showcase the highest quality art. To preview the items that will be up for the live and silent auctions, please visit www.suu.edu/pva/artgallery/auction/ beginning February 11, 2013.
