WHAT: The exhibit will feature student work from 2D Design classes taught by Jessica Gerlach. Students showing their artwork are Michael Barker, Alexis Glauser, John Grimshaw, Kedrik Hamblin, Alyssa Hehl, Kaitlyn Keel, Savannah Klein, Natasha Lye, Andrew Mitchell, and Jackqueline Sheppard.  The students of the Gallery and Museum Practices Class taught by Reece Summers, and mentor Jennifer Feld juried all pieces shown in this exhibit. (Students involved in the exhibition process; Paul Fabela, Amanda Kemp, Kaitlin Schafer, Scott Schmidt, Kallie Syndergaard and Martha Wilder.)

SUU's Braithewaie Fine Arts Gallery Presents
“1, 2, 3, and Sometimes 4”
October 24th - November 11th, 2011

Southern Utah University, Cedar City, UT: Students of the SUU Art and Design program would like to invite all students, faculty, and community members to attend an exhibit of artwork and a night of Halloween fun.  The exhibit will feature student work from 2D Design classes taught by Jessica Gerlach.  Students showing their artwork are Michael Barker, Alexis Glauser, John Grimshaw, Kedrik Hamblin, Alyssa Hehl, Kaitlyn Keel, Savannah Klein, Natasha Lye, Andrew Mitchell, and Jackqueline Sheppard.  The students of the Gallery and Museum Practices Class taught by Reece Summers, and mentor Jennifer Feld juried all pieces shown in this exhibit. The exhibit is entitled, “1, 2, 3, and Sometimes 4” and will be open to the public on Monday, October 24th through Friday, November 11th in South Hall on the SUU campus. Opening night for the exhibit will be on Monday, October 24th from 6pm to 9pm, and will include an art walk from South Hall to the Braithwaite Gallery lobby where the exhibition of “The Colors of Women” is currently on display, as well as the continuing show, “Soviet Era Art 1917-1991” in the Braithwaite Main Gallery.  During the art walk, visitors can enjoy some trick-or-treat fun with Halloween candy at each stop.  Come support these students, enjoy some great artwork, and get some candy!

ABOUT THE COLLEGEThe Southern Utah University College of Performing and Visual Arts is comprised of nationally accredited departments of Art and Design, Music, Theatre Arts and Dance, as well as a graduate program in Arts Administration. The College offers 16 different degree areas, including liberal arts Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Science degrees; professional Bachelor of Music and Bachelor of Fine Arts in art and theatre degrees; and a Master of Fine Arts in Arts Administration degree. More than 60 full- and part-time faculty and staff are engaged in teaching and mentoring over 550 majors in the College. Over 1100 students enroll each year in over 195 arts classes on the SUU campus. The College presents 100 performances, lectures, presentations, and exhibitions each year. The College’s affiliate organizations include the Braithwaite Fine Arts Gallery, American Folk Ballet, Utah Shakespeare Festival, the performance group Acclamation, and the SUU Ballroom Dance Company.
