The Weber State University Department of Performing Arts presents the WSU Jazz Ensemble Monday, October 17, at 7:30 pm in the Allred Theater, Val A. Browning Center for the Performing Arts. Tickets are $6/$5. Those with military identification will receive the student price. Tickets can be purchased at the Dee Events Center Ticket office: 1-800-WSU-TIKS, weberstatetickets.com or at the Browning Center Box Office beginning one hour before curtain. Children eight years and older are welcome to attend.
Some of the selections to be performed are Horace Silver’s “Sister Sadie” as performed by the GRP Big Band, Sammy Nestico’s “Basie, Straight Ahead,” Sonny Rollins’ “St. Thomas,” “Mr. Fonebone” by Bob Mintzer, “Samba de Rollins” by Don Menza, “Tuning Up” by Toshiko Akiyoshi, Denis Ci Blasio’s “Coconut Champagne,” and “There’s the Rub” by Gordon Goodwin. The WSU Jazz Combo will also be featured on a few numbers.
