Upcoming Events at Bountiful/Davis Art Center
Bountiful, Utah, September 28, 2011 – Bountiful/Davis Art Center is happy to present several workshops and a presentation in October and November. The following are scheduled:
· The Figure in Red Chalk taught by Sandy Freckleton Gagon
This two-day workshop will present concepts of visual perception and their application to drawing the human figure from direct observation. It takes participants through the steps of drawing the figure with this traditional medium, used by great masters throughout art history.
Saturday October 8 and Monday October 10, from 9:00 - 4:00pm with a one hour break for lunch. Fee: $175 + $15 model fee and printed materials
· Life Drawing Workshop taught by Robert Barrett
Come spend the day drawing with one of Utah’s most celebrated life drawing instructors and author of Life Drawing: How to Portray the Figure with Accuracy and Expression.
Saturday, October 22 - This workshop is divided into two sessions; morning session: 9:00 - 12:00pm with a nude model.
Afternoon session: 1:00 - 4:00pm featuring a draped model. Fees for both session $90 + 10 model fee. Fee for one session $50 + $7 model fee
· Watercolor taught by Lester B. Lee
Join local favorite, Lester Lee, for this one day workshop at BDAC on Saturday, November 5th. This course is primarily for beginning watercolorists, but anyone is welcome. The morning will comprise of a question and answer session, painting demonstrations of color and technique, and a quick drawing lesson. After lunch, students will use a document camera and projector to paint a country scene together. The class runs from 9:00am to 4:00pm. Cost is $70. Mr. Lee currently has works on exhibit at Bountiful/Davis Art Center – through November 4.
· Feature, Drawing the Portrait: Inside and Out by Sandy Freckleton Gagon
This two- day workshop will sequentially present concepts of visual perception and their application to drawing the portrait from direct observation
Friday, November 25 and Saturday November 26, from 9:00am - 4:00pm with an hour break for lunch. Fees: $175 + $15 model fee and printed materials.
· Presentation by Paul Mann on the History of American Illustration
He will discuss pieces that are on display at BDAC from his personal collection. These pieces were created by Hall of Fame Illustrators such as Joe Bowler, Robert Patterson, Robert McGinnis, Mike Ludlow, Tom Lovell, Jon Whitcomb, Robert Fawcett, Robert Peak and Tom Hall. These illustrators have all made significant contributions during the end of the golden age of illustration in America.
Friday, October 21,7:00-8:30pm at Bountiful/Davis Art Center. The presentation is in conjunction with the Illustrators Utah! exhibit that features professional Utah Illustrators. The exhibit goes through November 4, 2011.

BDAC is the place to be on the third Monday of each month for ‘Family Art Night’. Bring the whole family to do a hands-on art project, learn about the current exhibit and do a fun “I Spy” activity in the gallery geared for children of all ages. Refreshments are served. The event is scheduled from 7-8:30pm on October 17 and November 21.
Tuesday-Friday: 10:00 am – 6:00 pm Saturday: 2-5 pm
BDAC is closed on Sunday and Monday (except for Family Art Night on the third Monday), holidays and in between exhibits.
