Southern Utah University, Cedar City, Utah: An artist who devotes herself to creations of traditional Chinese realistic brushwork painting, watercolorist Yi-Dan Guo will talk about her unique art and process when she appears at Southern Utah University’s Department of Art and Design’s acclaimed Art Insights series. Guo, an instructor at The School of the Arts at Renmin University, Beijing, China, will lecture on Thursday, October 27, 2011, beginning at 7:00 pm in the Centrum Arena, Section K. Admission is free and thegeneral public is encouraged to attend.
Yi-Dan Guo’s appearance marks the sixth cultural collaboration between China’s Renmin University and SUU. Guo graduated from the Senior School affiliated with Central Academy of Fine Arts, and soon after was admitted to Traditional Chinese Painting Department of Central Academy of Fine Arts, where she studied on figure drawing. She earned her bachelors degree from Traditional Chinese Painting Dept of Central Academy of Fine Arts, while simultaneously, receiving another in literature. Continuing her studies, Guo earned a masters degree in philosophy from Renmin University. As an art researcher, Guo has traveled throughout China investigating the art of Chinese brushwork As an artist, she has created numerous works depicting figures and the landscape. Her work has been exhibited in China as well as having been catalogued and published in various books and journals.
Art Insights is a weekly program hosted during the fall and spring semesters by SUU’s Art and Design faculty. Students and community members meet weekly to experience presentations and discussions by visiting artists and art educators from around the nation who share their work and insights and attend gallery openings. Admission is free, and the general public is invited to attend.

ABOUT THE COLLEGE
The Southern Utah University College of Performing and Visual Arts is comprised of nationally accredited departments of Art and Design, Music, Theatre Arts and Dance, as well as a graduate program in Arts Administration.
