COLORS OF MUSIC

A FACULTY RECITAL

OCTOBER 10, 2011

Southern Utah University, Cedar City, Utah: A beautifully hued palette that encompasses a diverse range of musical styles, Colors of Music will showcase SUU’s Department of Music faculty in recital. This entertaining evening is scheduled for Monday, October 10th starting at 7:30pm. The performance will be at Thorley Recital Hall in SUU’s Music Building and the event is free and the general public in encouraged to attend.

Under the supervision of Dr. Lawrence Johnson, Assistant Professor of Voice, the evening will feature both favorite full time and adjunct faculty and the audience will hear them perform a variety of instrumental and vocal selections. According to Dr. Johnson, “the theme will be ‘Colors of Music’ and will include some favorites and classics, as well as some lesser known gems that relate to colors.” The recital offers both students and patrons the opportunity to experience the artistic expertise of SUU’s distinguished music faculty.

Color of Music promises to be an enjoyable recital that is not to be missed. Please attend this entertaining performance by SUU’s Department of Music faculty. ABOUT THE COLLEGE
The Southern Utah University College of Performing and Visual Arts is comprised of nationally accredited departments of Art and Design, Music, Theatre Arts and Dance, as well as a graduate program in Arts Administration. The College offers 16 different degree areas, including liberal arts Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Science degrees; professional Bachelor of Music and Bachelor of Fine Arts in art and theatre degrees; and a Master of Fine Arts in Arts Administration degree. More than 60 full- and part-time faculty and staff are engaged in teaching and mentoring over 550 majors in the College. Over 1100 students enroll each year in over 195 arts classes on the SUU campus. The College presents 100 performances, lectures, presentations, and exhibitions each year. The College’s affiliate organizations include the Braithwaite Fine Arts Gallery, American Folk Ballet, Utah Shakespeare Festival, the performance group Acclamation, and the SUU Ballroom Dance Company.
